Hello all! This week's sub list is going to provide hopefully most of the missing information from last time. Also I will do my best to answer some commonly asked questions from Reddit from last time. As always, the talk of a SUB Tier list is controversial and hugely dependent on your box and the dungeon you are running. PLEASE refer to the DISCLAIMER down below before asking questions and making decisions.
Now that's out of the way, let's first talk Ragnarok Dragon. He originally has 1050 weighted stats, but with the new Level 110 mechanic JP recently introduced, Ragnarok Dragon's weighted shoots up to 1155 at Lv. 110: HP 6633 / ATK 2041 / RCV 253, without pluses. He also comes with two good killers: God and Dragon, which covers a good number of bosses in the game. Also comes unbindable, 2 Time Extend awakenings, a SB, a SBR, and a TPA. Has a decent active skill of an all orb change + hearts and haste, and is an asset to rainbow teams and others alike.
Basically, Ragnarok Dragon boasts superb weighted stats and strong killers + a TPA and can carry damage for team when up against Gods and/or Dragons. And above all, he is NOT REM-exclusive and can be (easily) obtained for just 300k MP. I say easily because there has been numerous events that gave out MP. Probably the hard part for most players would be having to evolve his giant ass, but you can already have access to his awesome awakenings through his first UEvo. Then you can just chip away at that second UEvo as you progress along.
Outside of rainbow teams, players will usually opt for cards with the infamous 7C awakenings, and RagDra will probably be pushed out. But with that new Skill Charge awakening introduced into Halloween Sonia Gran, we may see a new age of rainbow leaders soon. And again, the fact that he's farmable is a big plus on top of everything, which is why he's rated so highly.
*Also, for people debating that he has no damage control: Damage Absorb and Damage Void bosses are pretty busted right now. With Fujin inherits and Pixel subs, damage control, in MY opinion, are a thing of the past. For those of you with little to no access to these solutions, then you should not be taking these Aggregate/Tier Lists too seriously (yet); all these lists assume access to near-perfect leads and subs; not for the newer (or unlucky) players.
Revo Haku, Amatsu, and 7C awakening subs
I won't go too into too much detail on Revo Haku, but she is definitely still an amazing sub to a lot of teams out there. It's just, the power creep of cards with 2 or even 3 7c awakenings has become abundant in the current meta that she's been overshadowed. Not to mention most of these new cards' base actives produce hearts, which can save lives in a pinch, as well as activate FUA to kill resolves, which Haku does not do.
I don't speak for everyone out there, but for the teams I see and teams I make, in terms of subs, usually pack 1-3 "assisting" cards such as ones with FUA, Void Pierce, or tons of Time Extend / Skill Boost awakenings, and fill the rest of the team with "damage sticks". This is where you insert in cards usually with 2-3 7c awakenings to carry damage.
And of course, if you have a card that fills the "assisting" and the "damage" role, then that's even better. Such is the case of the top sub of all the tier lists: Amatsu. Amatsu's been out for a while and is pretty self-explanatory on his position on these lists: absurdly high HP, two 7c, FUA, unbindable, and bind recovery awakenings.
Take myself as a team-building example: When soloing, I run Anubis x Diablos for basically all of the hard content. With my limited pool of subs, usually I'll have Yuna / Momiji / Tadis as my 3 staple subs: Yuna has high attack stat and has 2 7c to fill the role of an attacker, but also 4 whopping Time Extends. Momiji acts as my resolve killer while also packing 3 TEs. Tadis, from that Dragoncaller REM a while back, replaces Gunma and has a 1-turn CD active that synergizes with Anubis, and also gives +1 second move time (while also cancelling time debuffs). The 4th sub slot is usually Pixel Cecil to deal with pesky Damage Void bosses, but can also be another Yuna if the dungeon doesn't have Voids. Also, I run Sheen as my enhance, so it all works out!
Wow, this post definitely has grown to be a lot longer than I wanted, but I think I have addressed most of the more commonly asked questions. I don't have a chance to talk more about each individual site's rankings in detail this time around. Cards you own that are not on these Tier Lists are not automatically nonviable, and cards you own that are on these Tier Lists are not automatically viable.
The Subs below mostly accompany top combo/colour leads, such as the leaders from my "JP Aggregate Leader List" posts. They boast tremendous firepower through their multiple 7c awakenings and/or have valuable killer awakenings (such as God, dragon, devil killers). HOWEVER, they are not universal; all subs should be built around your leader, and more importantly the DUNGEON you are tackling. Which goes back to my main point: "Donât take these ratings as fact; I encourage you to simply take them as a starting point for discussion to figure out which subs are actually the best for your specific situation."
*Note, that the Ney, Cotton, and Pixel series are all categorized as "Honorable Mentions" on GameWith.
Pixel Series have a lot more cards than the Sephiroth, Lightning, and Cloud listed. I shortened it down for simplicity. Also pixel series may also include starter dragon/healer girl evos.
Ney series, no matter which branch of ult evo you make, packs 2 7c and 2 TPA awakenings. This provides powerful burst and can very well carry damage for the whole team all by themselves. Their active is a board change recovers HP and binds, as well as providing a board of their respective colors + heal, makes them multipurpose and flexible and is able to hit on a multitude of teams. Lack of Time Extend Awakenings, however.
Cotton series, no matter which branch of ult evo, packs 2 7c awakenings, as well as the much sought after FUA (Follow Up Attack), that kills mobs with Resolve. Their active skills produce orbs of their respective element + heal for a short 5 turn CD, great for both attack and defense. The active's downside is that the board doesn't have skyfalls for one turn, however that can be nice for controlling damage (when fighting bosses with Damage Void or Damage Absorb).
The pixel series (that first made their debut through Final Fantasy Collab), introduces the "Void Damage Piercer" awakening that can punch through bosses with Damage Void. This is super useful, especially against some of the tricky end-game bosses: Azathoth from Cosmic Trinity, Arena 3's Radar dragons, certain One shot dungeons, to name a few. Suddenly, safely one-shotting these bosses become possible (and no amount of skyfalls will ruin your run against Damage Void bosses!)
